This entire debacle is indeed an American tragedy, one which I hope no person, including sitting or former presidents, would ever have to endure.Yet another editorial in search of the “sensible middle ground?” In this case, bending over backward to kick some dirt on Alvin Bragg and his motivation for going after Donald Trump.
As soon as Roe vs. Wade was overturned, it became clear that women would be harmed and women would die. And that’s exactly what has happened.“Women can experience severe medical conditions during pregnancy that would not be covered by exceptions for the life of a mother, including sepsis, uncontrollable bleeding, kidney failure and loss of fertility.”
Amanda Zurawski had to develop sepsis before doctors would help her. That’s still the case today. Nothing has changed. Texas legislators insist that the law protects women and doctors, but that is obviously false.In 2012 in Ireland, a woman had a miscarriage at 17 weeks. The fetus was never going to survive, but because of a strict abortion law, doctors refused to perform an abortion until the woman became ill, developed sepsis and died. In 2018, abortion was legalized in Ireland.
