When our grandchildren ask what we did to confront the 2022 reincarnation of Hitler, I hope the answer is more compelling and courageous than, “We paid a little more for our gasoline.” The world looks to America to lead in times of greatest crisis. In my humble opinion, there is no acceptable diplomatic solution other than defeat for Putin. Giving Putin anything is rewarding him for his criminal activities.In 1936, General Francisco Franco, heavily supported by Hitler and Mussolini, launched a fascist rebellion against the legally elected government of Spain, igniting the Spanish Civil War. Americans are tragically ignorant about this event.

I am old enough to remember the Cuban missile crisis, and fortunately, Kennedy and Khrushchev were wise enough to avert a nuclear catastrophe by having us remove our nuclear armed missiles from Turkey and the Soviets remove theirs from Cuba.
