I’m really struggling to understand how Republicans can not only support George Santos, but appoint him to two committees! There is no other institution that wouldn’t immediately fire Santos for his lies and his embellished résumé. Now he is being rewarded for his deceit!
However, I believe as adults, the members can chew gum and walk at the same time. After all, we elected them to take care of our business and to help improve our livelihood by passing important and meaningful legislation, while at the same time, restoring dignity, integrity and honesty to this body. By allowing him to remain in Congress, the GOP is basically promising us that lying and fraud are now part of its playbook. Santos isn’t being punished for his lies and dishonesty because the others want to keep power. And power corrupts people.Re: “‘Some refund’ may be given due to trash mess — City could compensate some residents for missed collections,” Wednesday Metro & Business story.
Let me propose a new plan. Close City Hall and all employed there can put on city coveralls and pick up trash until all of the trash has been collected and properly disposed. Everyone, from the elected down to the lowest hourly employee.
