Gov. Greg Abbott says that the state should not have the authority to keep children in the public school system where they’re not succeeding. “Some children have different educational needs. We need to understand that some schools provide a one-size-fits-all approach to educating our kids, and the fact of the matter is not all kids are the same size — different kids need different programs.”

point directly to the non-transparency of Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Legislature. The Republicans are governing poorly and costing Texans in the pocket book. The Texas Universal Service Fund tax is being raised from 3.3% to 24% to raise $200 million because Abbott vetoed a bill that would have replenished the fund. Texas legislators knew this was coming. It could have been easily avoided. It would only take a small fraction of the state’s huge surplus to fix this problem without raising taxes.
