Readers considered the travel time from Celina to be underestimated; claimed Christian nationalism with pride; disagreed on well capping; and pondered water needs, absentee voting and inflation.Drive time from CelinaI love eternally optimistic people. One supposes that backers of opposing candidates might go to fisticuffs at the polls, and therefore must be prohibited from any form of First Amendment freedom that could result in violent behavior. In light of the mass shootings by people using assault-style weapons, one must wonder, too, why the sale of those to the civilian population is not prohibited. Shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater is obviously not what it used to be.
Christian claims that when a well no longer produces, that operator is required by law to plug it, so why are there 7,900 abandoned wells? Who is enforcing the law? I agree that former President Donald Trump is a very disagreeable person and borders on being egomaniacal. Obviously President Joe Biden truly won the election, even though in places there may have been some questionable security. Republicans have spent the last two years saying all mail-in ballots are fraudulent, all ballots received after election day are fraudulent, and parties sending ballot applications to voters is fraudulent, yet they happily tout these things when convenient.Re: “The Next Texas Boomtowns,” series in Sunday Business, and “Water, aging farmers and the internet,” by Ellyn Anthony, Sunday Opinion.
