Political donor attempts to influence the outcome of a pending impeachment hearing of the Texas attorney general with Texas-sized contributions fly in the face of any pretense of objectivity.

There seems to be a cancer infecting the entire Republican Party. Is radical surgery needed? It might help to remove the “happy face” view of the GOP her column suggests. Scott seems like a good person. Congress needs dozens more like him.While McCloskey leans a little too right for me, I do agree with her statement that “The job these candidates are running for is to govern and solve problems.

Don’t let this former senator and vice presidential candidate fool you. Third-party candidates for president certainly have proved to be spoilers in general elections and in recent decades no less. Ross Perot’s candidacy certainly shot down George H.W. Bush’s chances back in 1992. When Al Gore ran in 2000 with Joe Lieberman as his running mate, the vote difference in Florida was 537, with third-party candidate Ralph Nader garnering over 97,000 votes.
