If you’re looking for a good illustration of “White privilege,” just take a look at the article in the East Bay Times on Wednesday about Elizabeth Holmes very mysteriously getting her sentence reduced by nearly two years after just six weeks behind bars.Walnut CreekI recently lost my grandmother to diabetes. She’d struggled to manage the high out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs. I’d love to see California lawmakers do more to reduce these expenses and improve access to vital care.

It’s shocking that insurers and PBMs usually pocket these savings to boost their profits instead of sharing them with consumers. Vulnerable patients shouldn’t have to pay more out-of-pocket just so insurance companies and PBMs can make more money. Lawmakers should pass SB 873 now to bring some relief to patients struggling to afford the high out-of-pocket expenses for prescription drugs.Animal pollinators, especially bees, are responsible for California’s biodiversity and natural wonder. Throughout the state, bee pollination has allowed wildflowers to thrive, produced complex and varied ecosystems, and bolstered California’s agriculture.
