Gov. Greg Abbott is right to exclude China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from buying property in Texas, a reader says.U.S. Rep. Chip Roy has certainly made a name for himself in leading his fellow congressmen to hold up their vote for Rep. Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House. He managed to change the House rules on how bills are processed. He wanted open debates on bills and time to read the bills before voting. All this was done behind closed doors.
I have grimaced may times with the laws and actions of our Texas Legislature and governor these last few years. They have finally done something that I agree with. The exclusion of China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from buying property in Texas is excellent. This legislation will protect our state and nation from the intrusion of those countries that could do us harm. Our relationship with these nations continues to be a complex and threatening situation. I hope this new law will derail some of their long-term aggressive plans to wield their power in our homeland. To paraphrase former President Lyndon B. Johnson: We should fear ignorance, not our neighbors, not our friends.
