The article mentions that the 57-year-old Jeep Cherokee auto plant in Belvidere, Ill., will close indefinitely at the end of February, putting 1,350 people out of work. One employee states that his wife is “scared to death. But I told her, we’ll make ends meet. If I have to wash dishes at two different places, I will. I have to do what I have to do for the family.”
These soon-to-be laid-off employees are showing me that when tough times hit, they still have the strong work ethic of the American spirit. They don’t mention the government enabling them to get ahead. They are stating they will rely on themselves to continue moving forward. Obviously, things like hay shortages impact the food available, and prices at the grocery will reflect that.The World Bank recently predicted
