BART and VTA have no business attempting to build a 48-foot single tunnel under San Jose that “no one else in the world has attempted” .

However, it is difficult to understand why so many approved applicants have to wait so long for payments. Reading this article was a reminder of systemic failures. Meanwhile, European countries that had previously closed their borders to Afghan refugees have flung them open to Ukrainians. And now, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announces legislation to provide $3 billion in emergency humanitarian aid. Fine. But one wonders how we can then shirk our responsibility for the tragic mess we left behind during our hurried exit from Afghanistan.
