This 2019 aerial photo provided by ConocoPhillips shows an exploratory drilling camp at the proposed site of the Willow oil project on Alaska's North Slope. The Biden administration is weighing approval of a major oil project on Alaska's petroleum-rich North Slope that supporters say represents an economic lifeline for Indigenous communities in the region but environmentalists say is counter to Biden's climate goals.

We need to continue to concentrate on reducing global fossil fuel emissions while at the same time ramping up the use of renewable sources of energy and protecting habitat for wildlife and protecting Indigenous people’s rights. If progressives cannot control something, they want to kill it. Parents who take their kids out of failing public schools want their children to succeed. If a school cannot deliver, it will close.

To my husband’s credit, he took lessons, practiced shooting and has a license to carry. These are examples of responsible gun ownership, but war type weapons should not be allowed in a community. Guns of mass destruction should not be on our streets. Let’s go back to outlawing assault weapons and large-capacity magazines like we did in the ’90s. At least, let’s raise the age to 21 for anyone to buy a gun. And there must be a background check to search for criminal or mental issues.

Some states are heading in the wrong direction on gun control. Mass shootings occur almost daily in the United States. We have to do something.
