After the rally, Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan, attended our convention and offered a brief speech to delegates prior to opening the floor to questions. Many delegates took the opportunity to express their frustration with his government. They spoke of dangerous short-staffing and overwork, with people working 16-hour-to-24-hour shifts, and the devastating impact on their lives. They spoke of the frustration of a government who treats us as if we are nothing, first calling health-care workers heroes, but then offering zeros at the bargaining table.Article content

Mr. Morgan stated that he would bring the concerns to the appropriate department, but I can’t help but wonder if this is simply lip service. Notably absent from the conversation was a commitment from the minister to work with us! Perhaps that’s what has been missing all along.
