I see they are removing all the greenery that they spent so much on in the past and moving to replace it with rocks.
I remember back in the 1970s-90s, the city spent a lot of money on beautifying this city. Trees, flowers, curbs, sidewalks, plants, etc. — and it was beautiful here. I was so proud to bring friends from the Lower 48 to visit.
Well, thanks to all of Anchorage’s homeless residents — I hear more than 1,000 now, and the mayor and Assembly won’t do a thing that works about it — I do not go downtown or bring any friends up. I see they are removing all the greenery that they spent so much on in the past and moving to replace it with rocks. I do like that because making it so people can’t camp out because it’s too uncomfortable is a great move. People Mover installed benches you can’t sleep on. There is some good stuff going on, but I’m old school. I remember when there were laws against people’s behavior when panhandling in the medians; yesterday in Spenard, someone was passed out on the center strip of the road and his arm was on the road. Why is it that the Anchorage Police Department can do nothing about this? Voting will be coming up in April; do not vote for any incumbent Assembly members.
