I previously wrote that the project cost for a new arena would be $318 million, involving three years for design and construction, including three per cent inflation per year plus a 10 per cent contingency factor for unexpected or unforeseen developments.Article content The city’s current estimate is $178 million. The city wants us to believe that a new arena is more affordable and a better investment than upgrading the existing one.
