PETALING JAYA: Flashes of light lit up dark spaces in some residential areas nationwide for about half an hour as Malaysians showed their appreciation to frontliners who are fighting to curb the spread of Covid-19.
People in several neighbourhoods lit up their mobile phones and flashlights on Friday night in a"thank you" gesture for the sacrifices made by healthcare workers, the police, Armed Forces and other agencies.Prior to this on Tuesday , National Film Development Corporation chairman Datuk Hans Isaac encouraged Malaysians to stand on their balconies and flash their appreciation between 9pm and 9.30pm on Friday .
Abdul Malek Mat Abu and his family in Sentul also did not miss out on the opportunity to show their gratitude. Malek, 47, also urged other Malaysians to do their part to break the chain of infection by complying with the MCO."We will forever be grateful for your sacrifice, hard work and bravery," wrote a family in Kuala Lumpur that posted a video of children shining lights from the window of their home on Instagram.
