Tropical storm ‘Leon’ remains far from Philippine landmass even as it slightly intensified over the Philippine Sea as of late Sunday afternoon, state

weather bureau PAGASA said in its latest weather bulletin.

Forecasters said the storm “may pass very close or make landfall over Taiwan or the southwestern portion of the Ryukyu Islands.” PAGASA, however, is still tracking its movement as it may still shift westward over the next few days, which may affect extreme northern Luzon.“This tropical cyclone is expected to gradually intensify in the next 24 hours and may reach severe tropical storm category tomorrow and typhoon category on Tuesday.

There was no tropical cyclone wind signals associated with ‘Leon,’ but forecasters said it may influence Southwesterly Windflow initially triggered by severe tropical storm ‘Kristine,’ which may affect weather conditions in Visayas, Mindanao and the western section of Southern Luzon. PAGASA issued general flood advisories on Sunday evening in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao due to light and occasionally moderate rains and thunderstorms.
