It's a lawyer brawl in the Leon Black sexual-assault case. The latest filing goes after the top firm Quinn Emanuel.

Ganieva's lawyers at Wigdor LLP are now arguing to a New York federal court that Black's lawyers at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan and Susan Estrich have gone too far in enabling Black's claims that Wigdor colluded with Harris and others to defame him.

, after an internal investigation by Apollo's board found that Black had financial ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Wigdor has been pushing for a judge to sanction Black's lawyers in his countersuit. Wigdor says Black's attorneys crossed the line in bringing racketeering claims against them, essentially accusing them of operating as a criminal enterprise. In its latest filing, Wigdor claimed that one of Black's attorneys tried to negotiate a deal with it behind the scenes.

Carlinsky did not respond to a request for comment on Wigdor's allegations. Quinn Emanuel and Estrich rebuked the allegations in comments to Insider. In a declaration filed last week, Estrich wrote that Black's attorneys learned about"a wealthy and powerful individual with an axe to grind against Mr. Black" working with publicists to generate press about Ganieva's suit,"resulting in articles that directly quote Wigdor attorneys."

Wigdor says Spiro sought in March last year to represent Ganieva, an issue that Wigdor raised to Black's attorneys in November. It is rare to see racketeering claims brought against law firms, since claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act are meant to target criminal organizations, according to legal-ethics experts.
