Poll watchdog Legal Network for Truthful Elections called on the youth on Monday, April 4 to refrain from using the term “fake news” to identify false information and instead use other terms such as “misinformation”, “disinformation” or “malinformation”.

Wag niyo na gagamiting terminolohiya yan ,” she added.

According to her, misinformation is the sharing of false information with no malicious intentions while disinformation is the opposite. Malinformation on the other hand, is sharing of true information but used in the wrong context. Lente said that it is in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government , the Commission on Elections , and the National Youth Commission .
