Lenovo has finally announced a new line of Legion Go handheld PCs, with one that will come installed with SteamOS out of the box. The new model is called the Legion Go S, and it's the world's first handheld PC from a third-party manufacturer using Valve's operating system.The existence of the Legion Go S was prematurely revealed when AMD announced its Ryzen Z2 processors yesterday. The higher-tier handheld, a prototype of the Legion Go (8.
8-inch display), uses the Ryzen Z2 CPU with Radeon 780M Series graphics. The other handheld still uses the AMD Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme processors with Radeon 700M series graphics.The Legion Go S powered by SteamOS comes in a 'Nebula Violet' color option. Valve has confirmed that it will work with more partners to ship SteamOS on other handhelds, and owners of all SteamOS devices will receive updates simultaneously.The Legion Go S includes a 120Hz display and up to 32GB 6400Mhz LPDDR5X memory with a 55Wh battery. There are two USB 4 ports, a micro SD card reader, and one headphone-microphone jack. The ports on the prototype Legion Go (8.8-inch) haven't been finalized.The prototype handheld includes a kickstand, dual USB-type C ports, and detachable TrueStrike controllers. Its memory is also clocked higher at 7500Mhz, and it's equipped with a VRR-supported OLED display. Lenovo says that it plans to release the higher-end Legion Go sometime later in 2025.
