Kota Kinabalu: Seorang lelaki berusia 21 tahun didenda RM2,000 atau penjara sebulan oleh Mahkamah Majistret di sini kerana memiliki pelbagai jenis bunga api tanpa permit.
Brandon Wong yang menganggur mengaku bersalah di hadapan Majistret Stephanie Sherron Abbie memiliki tiga kotak bunga api secara haram pada 5 April tahun ini, pada jam 9.25 pagi, di tempat letak kereta sebuah hotel di Tanjung Aru.Kesalahan di bawah Seksyen 8 Akta Bahan Letupan 1957 itu membawa hukuman penjara maksimum tujuh tahun atau denda sehingga RM10,000 atau kedua-duanya sekali, jika sabit kesalahan.
Peguam Lim Ming Zoong, yang mewakili Wong, memohon hukuman denda dikurangkan memandangkan dia menganggur dan berhasrat menjual bunga api itu bagi memperoleh pendapatan sampingan.Dalam kes lain, seorang lelaki berusia 29 tahun dijatuhi hukuman penjara enam bulan kerana menceroboh sebuah bangunan di pusat bandar.
Rakaman CCTV turut merakam pergerakan Shafiq di belakang bangunan sebelum menceroboh, kata pihak pendakwaan.
