by Bobby Harrison, Mississippi Today April 23, 2023 Based on the budget passed hurriedly and with barely any debate in late March during the final days of the 2023 session, legislators apparently were saying all of the state’s problems had been solved. They were saying: Education — pre-kindergarten through graduate school — is funded at an adequate level. All state employees are paid at an acceptable rate.
