He said he nearly died in December.
Mikkey Dee of the band Motörhead performs in concert during their Bad Magic Tour 2015 at the Tower Theater on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, in Upper Darby, Pa. Fans planning to hit Las Vegas in February to see the Scorpions play will have to wait a while as the band’s drummer, Mikkey Dee, continues to recover from a recent health scare.
Dee, who is also the former drummer for the legendary band Motorhead, recently revealed to fans that he battled sepsis in December and nearly died in a hospital. He told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that he sprained his foot in early December and was dealing with a mild fever and inflammation after. However, Dee said that just before Christmas his “ankle swelled up like hell, then it took on a weird shape and appearance and looked like an overcooked ham.
“I became very ill so I had to go by ambulance to Sahlgrenska and there they found out I had sky-high values, so I became priority one there,” he added.“They cut away what was dead and infected and badly infested,” he said. “It was not a good journey I was on. Another day and I’d be playing drums with Lemmy in heaven. I can say that.”
