The high bidder is planning to replace Libby's in Paterson with a Middle Eastern restaurant.

Washah, 57, said he plans to knock down the boarded-up Libby’s and build a glass-enclosed cafe and lounge overlooking the Passaic River as it meets the Great Falls. The cafe will offer sandwiches, salads and healthy snacks, he said. Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh said Washah’s vision fits with what he wants to see at the Great Falls, and he says he’ll recommend that the Paterson City Council accept the bid when it meets on May 16.
