Hockey broadcaster Bob Cole, the voice of 'Hockey Night in Canada' for nearly a half century, died Wednesday at age 90, according to his daughter Megan Cole.

Cole served as the play-by-play broadcaster for CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada” from 1973 to 2019, when he retired after calling his final game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens. He made his hockey broadcasting debut on radio for a game between the Boston Bruins and Canadiens in April 1969 before transitioning to TV in 1973.
