Veteran mixed martial arts fighter Phil Baroni has been arrested in Mexico following the death of his girlfriend, according to multiple reports.
Tribune De La Bahia reported that Baroni, 46, flagged down police in the neighborhood of San Pancho and told them his girlfriend was unconscious and needed help.that police found the woman on a bed, covered by a sheet, with “injuries consistent with punches, bruises on her face and body,” and no vital signs.

Cageside Press said that police said Baroni told them he and the woman were “smoking marijuana and drinking beer,” when she told him that she cheated on him. The site said police said that is when Baroni told them he “threw her into the shower where she fell and hit he head.
Baroni was a Long Island native who was known as “The New York Badass,” during his days as a fighter. He competed in most of the top organizations in the world — Pride, the UFC, Bellator and One Championship. Baroni’s had a 16-19 MMA record that included losses to the likes of Frank Shamrock, Matt Lindland, Evan Tanner, Joe Riggs, Brad Tavares and Karo Parisyan.said he last fought and won a boxing match in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in December of 2021.
