'Legend of Nestor grows' Cortes' diving tag play draws Yankees' praise:
Nestor Cortes has impressed his teammates with his pitching, but on Saturday, he added a dash of athleticism and fielding prowess to his growing résumé., with his highlight of the day coming when he sprinted to first base, caught a throw from Anthony Rizzo and dove to tag out a runner in the fourth inning.Steven Kwan hit the sharp ground ball to Rizzo, who was well off the bag at first base when he fielded it. Cortes got a late break covering first, but Rizzo threw him a bullet.
The left fielder is still batting just 6-for-44 without an extra-base hit in 15 games to begin the season, but his at-bats at least looked more competitive on Saturday.
