These are the top 4 legal-tech trends to watch in 2022, according to 7 industry experts
Consolidation will accelerate in the year ahead, especially as the number of private-equity-backed platforms continues to grow, according to Scott Mozarsky, an investor who focuses on legal tech at JEGI Clarity. Many platforms, like Clio, Onit, and Litera, are backed by major PE firms like TCV, K1 Investment Management, and Hg, fueling hyper-growth through strings of acquisitions.
Customer demand is also fueling the growth of platforms. Law firms and lawyers prefer all-in-one platforms over fragmented tools and software, according to Butler Curtis. The contract-life-cycle-management market, which has over 150 companies, is especially ripe for consolidation, experts told Insider.
"COVID really triggered an adoption of technology and a real focus on what more companies and lawyers can do with it, as well as what specific tasks or verticals they can apply them to," Bernadette Bulacan, who identifies trends and innovations affecting corporate legal departments as lead evangelist at Icertis, said.
