Central midfielder Darko Gyabi has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan from Leeds United for a second time, after a spell last season was cut short by injury
Leeds United turned down an enquiry from Plymouth Argyle regarding a permanent deal for Darko Gyabi before sanctioning the midfielder's loan move to the Championship club. Gyabi returned to Home Park last week, with Pilgrims boss Wayne Rooney saying the former Manchester City youngster "fits the style of play" he is looking to implement in the 2024/25 season.
United were not interested in offloading Gyabi, who joined the club in a reported £5m deal in 2022, on a permanent basis. Gyabi still has two years left to run on his Whites contract.Argyle director of football Neil Dewsnip told our sister title Plymouth Live: "One of our methods of success over the last few years is having had players on loan, and then being able to go back to buy them in some cases.
"We all thought he contributed massively last year so the fact he was injured at the end of the season, that was really disappointing for me and Nance not to be able to select him. So to get him back is great, I'm really looking forward to seeing him play." "Leeds United are more than okay with that. I don't want to mislead the fans, of course, but I would be incredibly surprised if they recall him."
