Leeds United's transfer business may be finalised until January yet the matter of contracts gathers importance with several players into their final year and others in need of improved terms
The closure of the transfer window has brought with it a chance for everyone to reset inside and outside of Leeds United. The curtain has fallen on a relentless summer of change from the very top of the club downwards.
If Ayling and Cooper feature regularly enough under Farke, it would not be a surprise if they picked up one or two-year extensions. The more intriguing point is how late Farke leaves that decision, given the players will want some reassurance over their futures. Kristoffer Klaesson will be 23 before the end of this season and he’s no closer to regular first-team football than he was when he first arrived. Meanwhile, Leo Hjelde was given chances by Farke last month, but failed to take them.
