Championship play-off finalists Leeds United and Southampton are plotting a summer transfer move for attacking midfielder James McAtee if they secure promotion back to the Premier League. A Give Me Sport report has claimed the Whites and the Saints are big admirers of the Manchester City youngster.
United have found life tough in the top tier of English football, accruing just 16 points this season, but McAtee still chipped in with four assists and five goals in 33 matches. It remains unclear where McAtee will be playing his football next year. He is contracted to the Premier League champions until the summer of 2026. Give Me Sport's report has claimed City are prepared to cash in on McAtee if a team can match their £20m valuation.
Leicester City, managed by Pep Guardiola’s former No.2 Enzo Maresca, were keen to sign McAtee last summer before United lured him back to South Yorkshire. Reflecting on his top flight experience, McAtee said: “It’s been tough, to be fair. I struggled at the start and then I got used to it.
