Former Rep LeeMZeldin wants the GOP to look younger and more diverse -- and he's creating a PAC to get it done. The group will specifically reach out to millennial and Generation Z voters, along with Jewish, Asian American, Hispanic, and black voters.
The Leadership America Needs PAC looks to support candidates in their outreach to these groups by building on strategies Zeldin used in his 2022 gubernatorial run in New York.“Through a deeply committed effort to more enthusiastically engage the cities and suburbs, we were able to flip traditionally Democrat voters, drive the message, and assemble the down-ballot success needed to change control of the House of Representatives,” Zeldin said in a statement per the Hill.
The group will specifically reach out to millennial and Generation Z voters, along with Jewish, Asian American, Hispanic, and black voters. “Republican leaders must do more to effectively empower compelling voices, exceptionally articulate a resonating message, and actually deliver the Red Wave election America needs,” Zeldin said.Despite losing to Gov. Kathy Hochul in the Empire State's gubernatorial election in November, his 6 percentage point loss was a significant overperformance compared to when the GOP nominee lost by 23 percentage points in 2018.
The New York Republican had considered running to be chairman of the Republican National Committee but declined to do so, though he warned that change is needed in Republican leadership, with"the grassroots frustrated, deflated, and defeated."
