PETALING JAYA: While the recent economic stimulus package is much lauded, the government should not only focus on the tourism industry but other industries as well, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.

PETALING JAYA: While the recent economic stimulus package is much lauded, the government should not only focus on the tourism industry but other industries as well, says Tan Sri Lee Lam ThyeThe Alliance for Safe Community chairman said aid should also be given to other industries, including the export sector, which had been jeopardised either directly or indirectly due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Commending the government for announcing the recent RM20bil economic stimulus package, Lee said it will assist the country in facing economic uncertainty following the outbreak. "However, despite such a big challenge in overcoming this issue, we are glad the administration has focused seriously on implementing structured recovery measures in the country," he quipped.

"The one-off RM600 payment for taxi drivers, tour bus driver, tour guides and trishaw riders, as well as the expedient 'Batuan Sara Hidup' allocation, have lifted the burdens of various parties.
