The Ashfield MP was asked if he wanted to apologise for his comments about migrants during Nigel Farage's recent GB News show
Conservative Party chairman Lee Anderson says his party have failed to tackle illegal migration effectively. Speaking on Nigel Farage's GB News show Mr Anderson, the MP for Ashfield, said: "We have failed on this, there's no doubt about it.
"It seems very slow and cumbersome - we're up against it, we've got the lefty lawyers, the human rights campaigners, we've got the charities, everything's against us. I'm not making excuses, but it's slowing us down. If we had the whole of parliament behind us I'm sure this would have got through by now.
Mr Anderson made the comments after reports that several asylum seekers had objected to being housed on the Bibby Stockholm barge. Immigration minister and fellow Nottinghamshire MP Robert Jenrick this morning said that several have since changed their mind.
