“Today SNP MSPs have the chance to prove what side they are on - that of the families and clinicians or that of their party bosses. They must pick a side.”In the letter staff said: “This would mean that NHS Lanarkshire, which is Scotland’s third largest health board, that serves a population presenting unique challenges, socioeconomic deprivation, mental health challenges and childhood adversity, may lose a high-functioning, key service for babies and their families.
And added that they wanted to ensure “the families of Lanarkshire continue to have the uncompromised, equitable and high-standard neonatal care which is currently being provided for by NHS Lanarkshire ”. The consultant added: “There is also no acknowledgement in the report of a consistent, stable neonatal workforce, which has been achieved in NHS Lanarkshire and impact the model change would have on this.”
