2024 Subaru WRX TR set to debut at Subiefest Florida on October 7
Subaru has made it clear that they do not have plans yet for an STI version of the latest WRX, but somehow they can't help but miss its signature looks.Apart from the official teaser images showing off the set of distinct wheels, bucket seats and red Brembo seats, the leaked documents now show that the WRX TR will revive the WRX STI look with its large rear spoiler.
The special wheels are apparently 19s, and at least in the Australian market, they are wrapped in 245/35R19 Bridgestone Potenza S007 rubber. These are bigger compared to the standard 18-inch wheels of the WRX and 245/40R18 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tires. As for the brakes, Subaru has also given bigger rotors to the WRX TR. From the standard 316x28mm front and 290x18mm rear brakes, the WRX TR gets red-painted Brembo calipers with 340x30mm front and 326x30mm rear ventilated discs.
But while the WRX TR has the looks of an STI, the special model won't get extra power out of its 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four engine. However, the TR in the Australian market will be matched exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, which should delight fans of the stick shift. Despite these leaks, it's still unclear if the Australian market WRX TR will be identical to what Travis Pastrana and Bucky Lasek are set to reveal at the Subiefest Florida event, so there's still much to know come October 7.Chevrolet PH launching Baojun-based Captiva?AutoIndustriya.com is the leading automotive resource for the Philippines.
