Transformation is on the horizon with Professor Karen Stanton stepping in as Interim Vice-Chancellor of BGU
Bishop Grosseteste University has confirmed Professor Karen Stanton as the new Interim Vice-Chancellor, effective from 1st August 2023.
Her previous roles include serving as Vice-Chancellor at Solent University and York St John University. Additionally, she held significant positions at institutions such as King's College London, and the universities of Nottingham, Birmingham, Glasgow Caledonian, and Sheffield Hallam. BGU Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Neil will retire at the end of July 2023 after 10 years of leadership. The Rev'd Canon Professor Peter Neil is the second vice-chancellor of the institution since it gained its university title 2012.
Professor Stanton expressed her delight at joining BGU, praising its rich heritage of educational excellence and inclusivity. She looks forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff, students, and Council to guide BGU through the next chapter of its illustrious history. Throughout her career, Professor Stanton has emphasised widening access to education and enhancing the social impact of universities. Her one-year tenure as Interim Vice-Chancellor is anticipated to lay a robust foundation for BGU's continued growth and development.
