The Law Society of SA has questioned whether it is"reasonable" to expect SA's lawyers to perform hundreds of hours of pro bono work per year, as envisioned by a draft BEE code for the legal profession.
The draft, which Cabinet has endorsed, was formulated by the Legal Practice Council , which has decried the"marked absence of diversity on the basis of race and gender" in top law firms.
