But among Jones Day’s over 2,500 lawyers, donations to the Trump campaign totaled just $50, the analysis of over 120,000 contributions filed through August 31 found. Jones Day did not immediately respond toLawyers from three other firms that have previously represented President Trump—Porter Wright Morris & Arthur; Kasowitz, Benson & Torres; and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius—also donated significantly more to Biden, per the report.

These numbers reflect industry trends as lawyers typically give more money to Democratic candidates, in part due to political tendencies, but also due to Republican hostility to class-action lawsuits and torts. “Lawyers tend to be liberal,” Maya Sen, a Harvard University professor who specializes in the politics of the legal profession,in a 2017 article when President Trump was accusing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of political bias.
