Lawyer: Uvalde teacher did not leave door propped open before massacre

Law enforcement, and other first responders, gather outside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde following a shooting, following a shooting that killed 21 people.

According to a detailed account on Friday by Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Uvalde High dropout fired at funeral home employees after he had crashed the pick-up and went on to the school, where he used an assault-style rifle to shoot and kill 19 students and two teachers and injure 17 more people.

McCraw told reporters on Friday that the employee propped open the door about the time the gunman crashed the truck, and that the employee called 911. But Flanary said he wants to make clear that the door was not left propped open. “She saw the wreck,” Flanary said. “She ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911.
