A recently filed lawsuit is making numerous accusations against the Lancaster City Police Department and Mayor Danene Sorace after the termination of a 15 year detective with the department.

While approved for medical leave in November of 2022, the lawsuit states that Halstead was told she would be demoted to a patrol officer, effective Jan. 9 of 2023. After this, court documents allege that Halstead was interrogated by a sergeant with Lancaster City Police on Jan. 25 of 2023, who made "false accusations" to her in regards to her disability and accommodation requests.

Court documents show that Halstead was then terminated from the department on March 23 of 2023 by Mayor Sorace due to recommendations she received from Lancaster City Police.
