The collapse of the first state capture case to be brought before the courts is undeniably a major setback for the fight against graft.
It has dented confidence in our ability to hold those who looted public funds to account. The sense of national despair is compounded by the fact that the country is in the grip of other debilitating crises. The failure of political leadership to demonstrate any sense of urgency in dealing with the recommendations of the state capture commission of inquiry to strengthen anti-corruption agencies has contributed to this malaise.
