George Santos, who created an account after being ousted from Congress last year. Former Rep. Matt Gaetz also joined the app after resigning from office this month, charging up to $500 for personalized messages.
Boebert may have different restrictions than her former embattled colleagues, however. Because she is still in office, she must adhere to congressional rules limiting how much money she can make. There are questions on whether Boebert’s use of the app is in violation of House rules that prohibit members from receiving “honoraria,” defined as a “payment of money or a thing of value for an appearance, speech or article.” If Cameo videos are deemed to fall under that category, Boebert may need to close up shop.Santos, who maintains his innocence, was ousted from the House last year in the face of identity fraud and campaign finance charges.
