Zoe the newly-adopted rescue dog has developed a unique system for letting her owner know when it is time to go home on a walk.

A newly-adopted rescue dog hit upon a great way of letting her owner know when she’s getting tired on walks together. Everyone knows that regular walks are an essential part of good dog ownership, helping reduce canine obesity risk as well as improving our pets’ physical health while reducing the risk of disease.

But the benefits go beyond the physical for our four-legged companions. In 2025, a study from the University of Surrey in the U.K. noted that dog walking also delivered mental stimulation and behavioral benefits to our canine friends.Walks give her an opportunity to acclimatize to her new surroundings. It’s a chance to explore the sights and smells on offer and find a way into a steady, day-to-day routine. According to their social media bio, Furry Rescue Italy helps rescue and rehome dogs across Italy, the U.K. and Europe. Zoe is one of their success stories, having been recently adopted into a loving home. It’s a home where she gets plenty of opportunities to go out and explore on walks with her new human companion. As the video shows, when Zoe “gets tired” she “decides it’s time to go home.” At that point, she will take the leash her owner has her on in her mouth and essentially lead them both back home. She does so in the most calm and measured way, as if taking her human for a walk. The video shared online showcases Zoe in action, with the rescue pup shown happily talking back having decided she has had her fill of walking for the day. A caption accompanying the video showcasing her actions reads: “Leash in her mouth and off we go: humans dragged, mission accomplished," alongside a laughing face emoji.of repeatedly turning around to check on their owner hit the headlines when the adorable reason behind it was revealed.past any type of establishment without at least trying to secure a pup cup or a well‑deserved treat for themselves, much to their owner’s amusement.who has started flat-out refusing to move beyond the front of his home when it is time to go walkies, preferring instead to sprawl himself out on his stomach on the pavement.
