The NRL match review committee has hit Mitchell hard over an ugly elbow on Shaun Johnson.
South Sydney’s season has gone from bad to worse with Latrell Mitchell facing a minimum three weeks on the sidelines for an incident involving Warriors superstar Shaun Johnson.
The Rabbitohs’ early season dramas continued when they were comfortably beaten by the Warriors 34-4 at Accor Stadium on Saturday, slipping to last spot on the ladder after five rounds. Speaking after the game, Souths coach Jason Demetriou labelled the elbow as “stupid”, along with a separate incident in which Mitchell was cautioned for a dangerous throw in the 31st minute on Tohu Harris.“They’re both stupid things. You’ve got to be better, simple as that,” Demetriou said.
Mitchell was fined $1800 for Mitchell for a grade-one dangerous contact charge after his hip collected Josh Addo-Carr in a sliding cover tackle in South Sydney’s 20-16 Good Friday win.Mitchell also met with NRL boss Andrew Abdo after swearing repeatedly in a radio interview following Souths’ loss to Brisbane.
