Mayra Macías will take the helm at the progressive political action committee as interim president Melissa Mark-Viverito steps aside to run for Congress

Latino Victory, the progressive political action committee, is naming a new executive director on Tuesday as its interim president, Melissa Mark-Viverito, steps aside to run for Congress.

“In the 2018 midterm elections, Latino Victory had a win rate of 74 percent, most of whom were Latina candidates, and the architect of this winning strategy was Mayra Macías,” said Luis A. Miranda Jr., chairman of Latino Victory Project. “Mayra came to Latino Victory with a clear vision and an open heart — she is a pragmatic, talented political strategist who has dedicated her professional career to building Latino political power.

Macías first joined Latino Victory in 2017, serving as national political director. She got her start in politics as a field organizer for President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Later, Macías served as Hispanic outreach director and deputy political director for the Florida Democratic Party.
