National Weather Service says near-blizzard conditions could occur in northern and western New Jersey at times on Saturday as winds turn gusty.
Temperatures are forecast to drop into the low 30s Saturday afternoon, then into the 20s by Saturday night. The mercury will continue to tumble overnight Saturday, dipping down as low as the teens in many areas of the Garden State by Sunday morning, with wind chills in the single digits.
Here’s a look at the many storm warnings and weather advisories that are in effect across New Jersey as of Saturday morning. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in western Bergen and western Passaic, where 2 to 4 inches of snow is forecast, along with wind gusts up to 45 mph.
A winter weather advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in Hudson County, where 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected, along with wind gusts up to 50 mph. Forecasters say “temperatures will fall quickly late this morning into this afternoon, resulting in a quick freezing of any standing water.”
