Ofgem has dropped the energy price cap to £1,923 this morning, with the new level coming into force on 1 October.
Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps has given his thoughts on the energy price cap announcement this morning.
He told Sky News he had also got rid of his dishwasher and plumbed the washing machine directly into the hot water, all in the hope of shaving money off his power bills. Analysis by Gurpreet Narwan, business correspondent The new level is also much higher than it was in October 2021, before Russia's invasion of Ukraine precipitated a global energy crisis.Average household energy bills will fall below £2,000 for first time since early 2022 after energy regulator Ofgem lowered the price cap to £1,923.
This still means the total annual cost per customer will be different depending on how many people you live with, the size of your home and how much energy you use.
