A family of three and their pets have been displaced following a fire on the city’s South Side.

The fire was called in around 11:30 p.m. at a home in the 8600 block of South Zarzamora Street, not far from West Ansley Boulevard and Gillette Boulevard.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they found flames coming from the mobile home. The fire was quickly put out. Fire officials say a man inside the home had heard popping sounds and then realized there was a fire. The fire started in the front of the house and then made its way to the attic, firefighters said. The house is considered a total loss.

The SAFD said the man’s wife and child were not home at the time of the fire. Rescue teams saved three pets, and there were no reports of any injuries.The family will be now be unable to stay in the home, firefighters said.
