Indeed, Fakir first performed with other original members Levi Stubbs, Renaldo “Obie” Benson and Lawrence Payton at a birthday party thrown by a local “girl” group Fakir later referred to as “high-class, very fine young ladies.” In the wake of the deaths of his original bandmates, Fakir sought to keep the Four Tops rolling into new decades by bringing in new members and continuing to tour around the country.
