Rain total records for San Francisco have been kept since 1849.

The last day of 2022 is going into the record books as the second wettest day on record in the city of San Francisco.

Jan Null, certified meteorologist with Golden Gate Weather Services, said late Saturday night that San Francisco received 5.46 inches of rain on Saturday, just shy of the all-time record of 5.54 inches of rain set on Nov. 5, 1994. Saturday's rain total for San Francisco brings December's total to 11.60 inches, the 15th wettest December on record for the city.

Null added that statewide numbers have improved, though not as much as the amount of heavy rain received across the central portion of the Bay Area.Place a free digital obituaryWe provide a free service for you to honor your loved ones. Click below to get started.
